East Campus Residence Hall = Lariviere Hall. (renaming Treetops would have appeal, but not sure we have the authority)

Rename Susan Campbell Hall – Here’s Pernsteiner’s UO office address:

    Name: George P Pernsteiner
    Title: Chancellor
    Department: Oregon University System
Office Address: 161 Susan Campbell Hall
    1263 University Of Oregon
    Eugene, OR 97403-1205
    Office Phone: (541) 346-5703

you’d rename a building named after someone with a lot historical meaning to the school (SCH) after a modern UO president who was only here for ~2.5 years?

what’s with the love affair with a man who was good, but not necessarily great?

    OK, who waas Susan Campbell?

If we could rename Tree Tops and require a statue of Lariviere to be on the property, and a big bust (complete with fedora) in the foyer, that would be ideal.

Maybe, instead of the little rock piles that people put up in the shallows near the Autzen Footbridge, some artist harnesses the power of his nickname and erects (pun intended) a series of river dicks that simultaneously horrify those who never understood and glorify the efforts of the man who tried (and failed) to reason with those who wanted/want to fuck the U of O for their own sake. As far as I understand it, the river is public property.

Lets try and keep it clean. I know, I really shouldn’t talk.

Ok fine…place ‘hats’ on the statues around campus where it makes sense. Starting with the pioneer across from Johnson Hall. I didn’t mean to be ‘dirty’ with the river. I was just trying to find the natural fit for the ex-Prez and his nickname (River Dick) from Kansas and maybe beyond(?).

    A ‘hat’ bobblehead?

Something that crosses ‘Johnson’ Hall with ‘Richard’ LaRiviere in a clean way? Maybe a Johnson & Johnson spinoff? I dunno. Now I seem obsessed with that line of approach.

How about a ‘river’ running into a dam with all of the metaphors in tact. That is, the river is the Prez and the dam is OUS, et al. It’s another regional metaphor that makes sense and is ‘clean’.

Take down that O on Lillis and replace it with a big hat.

Name the toxic dump at the first proposed ORI site after Larieviere.

Whatever happens, the ‘O’ on Lillis should come down… it’s an eyesore to a once glorious looking building…

I wouldn’t say “glorious.” But agreed. I say rename the library. You know, academics ‘n’ stuff.

I agree that Susan Campbell should not be dispossessed of her laurel crown. But how about picking the wing hat houses the chancellor’s office and spinning it off as the Lariviere building? Or call it the Lariviere wing of Susan Campbell Hall?

Didn’t the US rename the street the Soviet embassy was on after Raoul Wallenberg, and then refuse to deliver mail unless it was properly addressed?
