Mullens appoints Johnson, promotes Lananna

without consulting the UO Senate Intercollegiate Athletics Committee. It’s possible he talked to the executive committee, I’m not on that. Josephine Woolington report here. Despite this I still support Gottfredson’s plan to draft Rob as interim Provost. Bean’s done far worse, far more often.

Honestly — does the IAC actually just want to run the Athletic Department. Rob Mullen is head of the AD, runs a multimillion budget (which you clearly are disapproving of), and thus should have full authority to make personnel decisions. Just stop. Deal the fundamental issues of the IAC which, to my mind, should be the academic-athletic balance. The University hired an extremely accomplished person as the AD. Let him do his job.

THANK YOU for saying this. I wish more people would speak up and challenge some of the crap posted on this site.

The “crap posts” are all by anonymous, potentially one or three bored enthusiasts plus the site host. This site can credibly “speak up and challenge” when it gets rid of that feature.

Right, because “Entropy” is a much more identifiable handle than “Anonymous”. If you believe that statement, use your name.

You misunderstand the function of this site. Regardless of whether it’s 1 or 2 bored enthusiasts or a 1,000 contributors, what gets posted here gets read by many and influences actions, for better or worse (SEE EMU consultant scandal, Bean’s response on classroom space as recent examples). Credibility is irrelevant.

And to “anonymous” above – challenge away. It makes the dialogue much more interesting.

Yeah, all these questions about our fine athletics program are starting to look like harassment to me. Where do I go to report this to the appropriate authorities?
