Jim Bean or General Petraeus?

7/15/2013: Which is worse? Jim Bean’s $200K sabbatical and the $320K administrative sinecure President Gottfredson gave him to write the bylaws for the UO Trustees, or the latest General Petraeus scandal over a $200K teaching gig at CUNY, reported in the NY Times here?

  1. Uncle Bernie says:

Dr. Bean is undoubtedly of greater stature than Dr. Gen. Petraeus.

However, it should be noted that according to the NYT piece, Dr. Gen. Petraeus has now agreed to fulfill his teaching duties at just $1.

Perhaps Mr. Frohnmayer and Dr. Bean will now follow this worthy example?

I myself have had ample opportunity to reflect on the value of these goodwill-building gestures.

Surely you jest, Anonymous! A playful nod toward Uncle Bernie, perhaps?
