Steve Duin reports on 2001 Duck football rape allegation

In the Oregonian, here.

And a story about how colleges retaliate against faculty who speak out about rape, here.

And a post from UO professor Jennifer Freyd on laws against such retaliation, here. My earlier post on the administration’s statements about Freyd is here. The RG story is here, with these disparaging statements by UO administrators:

UO spokeswoman Rita Radostitz said the university was concerned that the survey data could be biased because of Freyd’s personal opinions and because Freyd did not collaborate with UO employees who work with sexual violence victims on campus.

UO Vice President for Student Affairs Robin Holmes said in an email that she worried that the survey could produce “confirmation bias in the results,” alleging that some of Freyd’s questions seek to prove what Freyd thinks about the university’s sexual violence policies, which would skew the data.

After Dura reviewed the survey, Holmes wrote in an email to Freyd last week that she was concerned that the survey could be overwhelming to victims, who may become upset when answering detailed questions about their experience with sexual violence. She also worried that Freyd was focusing too much on the behavior of male, rather than female, perpetrators.

It’s odd that the administration is so forthcoming about why they don’t like this survey, given their past efforts to hide their “frank discussions” on sexual violence at UO:
