Complaints that allege serious misconduct by a police officer or complaints that a department policy is unlawful will be forwarded to the vice president for finance and administration and the chair of the Complaint Resolution Committee. The complaint will be investigated by the department’s professional standards officer, and the result is provided to the Complaint Resolution Committee for review.
Unlawful UOPD policies? How would you know? I’ve been trying for 4 months to get a copy of UOPD policies from Mr. McGiver.
All those that make a complaint are instantly added to the bowl of dicks list at no charge. Isn’t the same person in charge of looking into complaints the same supervisor that allowed the bowl of dicks list to be made in the first place? Boy I sure would trust that person to investigate a complaint. I’m rather curious as to who it was that investigated the bowl of dicks list and if any punishment was given.
The police department gets complaints “once or twice a year”? Either they are lying or they are purposely obstructing legitimate complaints.
The Senate will have no say about who is on the committee, but United Academics can submit names for consideration. Not sure how I feel about that.
Also, it looks like if you have a complaint you have to submit it (online) to the police department. Really. We have to trust that “legitimate” complaints will be passed on the the president’s committee. I’m sorry, I’m not that trusting.
