Eugene Office of Human Rights: No spike in hate-based activity seen

Yet. Plenty of reasonable fear of it, however. In the RG here:

For some local residents, there’s anxiety that Donald Trump’s presidential win has heightened the threat of hate crimes against minority groups in Lane County.

“We have heard an increase of fear and concern among community members and local agencies about how the community is experiencing this moment,” said Jennifer Lleras Van Der Haeghen, who manages the city of Eugene’s Office of Human Rights & Neighborhood Involvement.

Van Der Haeghen was quick to say that Eugene officials have not seen a spike in hate-based activity during the past week.

If there is no data supporting a spike in hate-based activity, how can the fear of it be “reasonable”?

    More FUD from the left.

Because the lack of a spike is local but in many places it is rising, making it reasonable to fear those trends emerging here.

And they could just be wrong for one of many reasons.

Also, lack of spike just means continuation of existing and unacceptable base rates.
