    I have to wonder whether highly paid econ professors writing learned but possibly unreadable and probably unread papers on productivity in higher ed is good for productivuty in higher ed!

      The product of higher ed is scholarship and thinking, that’s not a fucking market commodity …

        Most people, and especially most legislators, use productivity in higher ed to mean employment and sometimes learning outcomes of students per dollar spent. Which really should be measurable.

          yeah you can measure the learning outcomes of students
          and put in on a spreadsheet so the legislature can claim ROI – me, I don’t have a clue how to measure
          a learning outcome, I don’t actually even know what
          a learning outcome is …

        You gotta be pretty high up the ivory tower to believe that students are paying $50k a year to be taught how to think.
