He provides Bean with wine recommendations, perhaps.
He lets Bean borrow his place on the Deschutes?
He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people and eat out their substance.
I believe its known as “deferred compensation”
for past services rendered. I.e., supplemental
retirement income.
