Around the O posts fascinating history of new Black Cultural Center

There’s the mandatory puffery about the vital roles of President Schill and VP Alex-Assensoh (both on the job market) and VP Marbury, but author Jim Murez does that cleverly and tells much, much more. Respect. It’s hard to find his text on Around the O’s graphic laden website, the direct link is here.

The BCC exists not because of a inclusive & generous administration, but because STUDENTS — the lifeblood of the University — organized, stood-up together and demanded it. The administration then flipped the bill for it to the students in the form of fees.

I do hope the collective, and the current/future student body, don’t let the administration white-wash the history and struggle that got us to this point.
