Last time the UO won some big important (who cares) game the Eugene city council and or mayor considered spending thousands on a parade for the O heroes…I found it interesting that nobody brought up any schemes like that lately.

Hi Zach, you might want to dig into how much our city leaders are going to spend subsidizing the 2021 IAAF championships. My guess is 10’s of millions. If you find any records please share.

Thanks for the encouragement…now that Rachel Bachman is gone and my health is poor getting any solid numbers about that is a tall order. It seems there is sometimes a complicated formula for the way UO or the foundation or the entity that owns the 2021 event gather funds. I am amazed how the FBI claimed interest in the bid and magically vanished. I suppose UO will gain funds from the governor and Salem…hidden subsidies from the city of Eugene…lottery dollars…anonymous donations to the UO Foundation….a motel tax…the lane county tourism outfit (I cannot recall the name at this moment) and some tuition money and dorm money….also perhaps some kickback from firms suddenly building 2021 athlete housing (I suspect via no bid contract) on the humpty lumpty location near 15th and Alder. Trying to coerce UO into slowing down its criminal activity has not been a healthy thing for me to attempt. Now with Christian Hill leaving and only new wet behind ears type reporters around UO is going to act more and more like a demon possessed Godzilla creature each day. I do not know if you saw it but the RG had a interesting editor column questioning UO megaprojects a while back. I wish that skepticism would lead to some Canzano-like scrutiny questioning the spending and sources and general lawlessness in the way partners like UO Nike and the City of Eugene operate together. Basically I give up with all these crooks….amazing how the Frohnmayer family still is up to Dave’s old tricks.

I left out one other UO money scheme related to this event…the motel tax.
