The high pay for OUS presidents is a holdover from Pernsteiner’s $45,000 consulting deal with Ray Cotton, used to justify a large raise for Frohnmayer. And of course when the presidents are paid a lot, it’s easier to justify more money for the chancellor – maybe even a raise for his maid?
