Colleagues,
The finalist for the CHC Dean search scheduled to visit campus this week has withdrawn. All meetings and events planned for this visit on Thursday and Friday are cancelled.
Please engage the next finalist on April 22 and 23 at the public presentation and any other meeting to which you have been invited. The schedule will be available at http://provost.uoregon.edu/content/robert-d-clark-honors-college-dean-finalists tomorrow. The candidate’s name, letter of interest and CV will be posted on Wednesday.
Regards,
Jim Bean
Senior Vice President and Provost
Who says that we can’t conduct a search?
And why do we go outside on this one but look inside on more important searches? I can think of a dozen people who can run the Honors College well. Karen Sprague, for one.
This administration is just plain hopeless.
Couldn’t agree more, but the outside search is probably the result of several factors. 1) No suitable senior HC faculty. 2) Pressure from HC faculty to go outside as leverage to get more resources. 3) JH strikes again. Finally, a dozen suitable internal candidates is realistic. Many of whom would likely be interested at a fraction of the cost of an outsider.
I wouldn’t want to touch UO administration, would you? Not a good time to be on board, that’s for sure.
I disagree completely. Gott’s going to clean out JH, he’s already started, and there’s going to be plenty of good change in the next few years.
It is amazing how much damage a few bad admins can do, but I agree that Gott is going the right direction and that there are many excellent people in the admin ranks already. Just have to support the effort to find the cancerous bits and move on.
