Back in the day, I showed up in camp for a seismic survey job in Montana. The crew was sitting around the fire, eating ribs they’d roasted on a rusty refrigerator grate.
“So, you’re the new guy. Want some ribs? They’re bear ribs. Helene shot it.”
Needless to say this was not exactly bear season. The carcass looked frighteningly human. I figured it was better to be the guest than the meal, thanked Helene, and dug right in.
