The UO Senate Transparency Committee will meet with UO Public Records Officer Liz Denecke this Thursday 12/9/2010 at 11 AM, in the EMU Oak room. From the UO Senate Calendar:
Senate Transparency Committee
Date:
Thu, 12/09/2010 – 11:00am
Location:
Oak Room in the EMU
All meetings of the STC are public, and we encourage you to invite interested persons. The charge of the committe is at http://committees.uoregon.edu/node/363. Essentially, our job is to review complaints regarding public records access and make suggestions to President Lariviere and Public Records Officer Denecke on their resolution, and on UO’s public records access procedures in general.
The agenda is as follows.
1) Review the complaint to the committee from Paul Cziko regarding delay and fees for his public records request for documents related to the Riverfront Research Park. Discuss drafting a recommendation to President Lariviere and PR Officer Denecke.
2) Discuss the cost of public records petitions to the Attorney General and their role in the public records process at UO. This is motivated by, among other things, the fact that UO recently paid the Oregon DOJ $2767.40 in attorney time to fight a request from the Register Guard, which had asked for a waiver of $806.83 in fees.
3) (If time permits) Discuss the committee’s access to information on public records requests and their resolution. In the Senate’s charge the administration was asked to provide “free and unfettered” access to this information. Ms Denecke has said she will provide this no more than monthly, only as a pdf, and the most recent version supplied was not current as of the date it was provided to the committee.
