Gabon buys Kennedy Mansion and part of the University of Oregon’s soul

7/23/2011: Thanks to a commenter for the link to the Kennedy mansion purchase, in the WaPo. Nice, but it’s not quite President Bongo’s pied-a-terre in Paris.

The Gabon / Oregon proposal is here. (Sorry, I got this last week from Ms Denecke – and then forgot to post it.) “Twin Edens” they call the deal. The signed agreement is here.

Read these – all fluff. Nothing good will come from this sort of refusal to even think about or discuss the issues with dealing with a corrupt politician and his kleptocratic state.

Still no news on the $20 million Gabon is supposed to pay Oregon for this “new partnership”. I have a feeling President Larivere is going to present this to the faculty and students in fall as a fait accompli – or just hide it and hope we stop asking questions.

Which is not the way this works.
