UO Police will keep this out of the papers

5/30/2011: When UO has its own sworn police patrolling off campus, they’ll likely be able to keep this sort of thing out of the papers by claiming FERPA prevents them from releasing the info. They already do this for on campus offenses. Note that the EPD cops who got this unlucky football player (with one unopened can of Four Loko) were on bikes. Has anyone seen a DPS officer on a bike lately? Every time I see one they are cruising in one of their police interceptors. If you see one, send me a photo.

In all fairness, the Cat did observe a public safety officer come out of the barnyard on 14th at Fairmont on a black mountain bike. He looked very tentative, and Cat suspects that the weight of his weapons belt might have been a factor. At any rate the officer biked down 14th to Walnut, got off the bike, turned it around on foot, got back on the bike and slowly returned to the barnyard. so much for community policing…
