5/23/2011: Frances Dyke’s “liar’s budget” says sworn armed UO police will cost us the equivalent of 3 RA positions a year. The truth is it has already cost us about 20 – the budget is up $500,000 or so. Why is a sworn police force UO’s top priority? From the RG:
Crime is down across the United States, and Eugene is no exception. Preliminary crime statistics released today by the FBI show that both violent and property crime declined last year in Eugene.
Reported violent crimes in the city dropped 11.5 percent from 2009, while property crimes were down 18.5 percent from the previous year.
According to the FBI, the nation experienced a 5.5 percent decrease in the number of violent crimes and a 2.8 percent decline in the number of property crimes in 2010 when compared with data from 2009.
I thought we were trying to stay in the AAU, but apparently our administration doesn’t really give a shit about that. They would rather piss our money away on police we do not need than hire researchers we do need. More police, fewer RA’s. This is a university?
