What is Dave Hubin hiding from the public – and the Trustees?

5/27/2014 update: Three weeks have now passed since reporters started filing public records requests about the rape allegation coverup. From what I can tell from the public records log, UO has not yet provided any documents except the already public Groves report on student conduct. The DOJ public records manual says that a week is normally sufficient time.

5/22/2014 update: Camilla Mortensen has an excellent report in the Eugene Weekly, here. From what I can tell UO still has not provided anything of substance. Total lockdown inside the JH bunker. Gottfredson’s last loyalist seems to be Dave Hubin. Hubin has a $450K public records budget, but it’s for hiding public records, not making them public.

For comparison, back when Lariviere was fired, it took less than 24 hours for Hubin to deliver a copy of Provost Jim Bean’s sabbatical proposal, in response to a public records request from me. The Senate Exec then used that document to keep OUS Chancellor George Pernsteiner from appointing Bean as UO’s interim president.

So, what effect might the documents Hubin is now hiding from the press have on the UO’s Board of Trustees’ decision about Gottfredson’s future? Have the Trustees seen the documents? Someday we’ll find out.

5/20/2014: Gottfredson’s cover up continues, petitions to DA to begin soon:

The Oregon DOJ’s public record’s manual says that one week should be adequate time to respond to these sorts of requests. Two weeks so far, and still no response to this, apparently the first public records request from a reporter. Many others have now accumulated, including ones from the NY Times, etc. Soon the reporters will start filing petitions with the Lane County DA, which under Oregon law will have a week to order UO to comply, or explain why not.
