Just kidding. Unlike those UO economics professors who regularly violate the theory of compensating wage differentials by putting their lives in harm’s way while regressing from their offices in the PLC deathtrap for just 72% of their peers’ salary, Pete DeFazio is way too smart to enter the building.
So the earthquake event will be in HEDCO 230T, which satisfies modern building codes. “Around the 0” has the announcement. I’d link to it but they still won’t link to UO Matters, so try google:
U.S. Rep. Peter DeFazio will visit the UO to lead a roundtable discussion covering earthquake preparedness and early warning systems.
The meeting will take place at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, in the HEDCO education building, Room 230T. Participants include UO geosciences professors Ray Weldon and Amanda Thomas, and UO risk services director Andre Le Duc.
Weldon and Thomas are great, and Le Duc is a great talker, so this should be interesting. And safer than working.
They must not be expecting a big turnout. 230T is not that big – maybe 50 people, max. Checkout all the earthquake bracing in the stairwells.
