Fall Enrollment

In a statement to the Emerald, Jim Rawlins — director of the Office of Admissions — said the UO was currently tracking on pace with last year’s recruiting class, but acknowledged uncertainty regarding the number of incoming freshmen for fall term.

“We won’t know for certain where we stand on student enrollment until the fall,” Rawlins said.

According to data from the UO office of institutional research, over 5,000 freshmen enrolled in fall term last year.

If I was a student I would want to attend a school in a smaller city/town that is unlikely to see people drop dead on the streets. NYC = bad, Corvallis= good

Maybe Lane County should seal off its borders to the outside world?

an the Registrar motto for classrooms here is:

    All Sardines in a Can

no way to we have any classroom for social distancing within
    the walls

Part of the concern we have is for the number of students who will go to less than full-time (esp if online) or simply not return here. Incoming first-years is great, but so far retention is a great big question mark. Some of that will depend on how systematically and thoughtfully we handle a ‘hybrid campus’ experience, if indeed we are allowed to do that.
