Anyone???? still waiting for a copy of the proposal DaveF submitted to the legislature for the reorganization of the University Administration that includes new titles, the increase in positions and the outrageous salary increases they have taken…R U still waiting to see the approval that gave the go ahead for all this money grabbing. Yeah…don’t hold your breath…didn’t happen.
And spending on instruction up 36%, for what it’s worth.
Canis Minor, not the brightest constellation in the academic heavens, opines:
If the quality of the administrators were superior, few would mind, indeed we might be better off.

ut the reality is that the appointments have been mediocre at best and often terrible. The cycle of hiring more and more administrators at ever higher salaries and hiring administrators who are incapable of providing any real vision of where we might be going and how to get there is truly discouraging.
Where are the deans in this process? where are the department heads? Why do they tolerate this state of affairs?
Deans and Dept Heads are just lower-level functionaries, the way JH runs the show these days. Bump into one and you’ll get an earful, but they are powerless–or at least feel powerless–to change things. They’re almost like…faculty.
Some deans and department heads seem focused on moving up the administrative ladder. Thus, they don’t want to ask uncomfortable questions.
Any word on how the science head’s meeting with Bean went yesterday?
