More docs here. Next to the Olum center seems to be the most likely decision. Construction will be rather disruptive to the children, but they are small and weak, and easily moved around:

Not really related to this post, but… if you go to Vivian Olum and ask how long their waiting list is you’ll see daycare demand is much, much greater then current supply. If you are a young mother who is also UO faculty you’re s*** out of luck.
That depends a lot on age. My daughter’s classroom at Olum has had a vacant spot all year; anyone who wants to enroll their 2-year-old could do so right now without any wait.
from what i’ve heard, the plan for a 6-story wing is actually contrary to current build code for the area (5-story limit) and would require a municipal exception.
And if it were a PLC replacement instead of a dorm, UOM would herald it as an important step forward….
Dorms are nice. A fancy new SRC and EMU too. However those baubles will not keep us from being kicked out of the AAU. We need new TTF, more classrooms, more grad students (with support), more research space and monies, and yes, a new building to replace PCL, the ugliest, most dangerous building on campus. But hey, what administrator has the guts to suggest putting a new PLC ahead of a new building for deans? Build physical and intellectual academic infrastructure? That requires long term vision and our administrators are exceptionally vision-less. Is there any JH administrator who is not a crook, a slacker, or a suck up or all three? Talk about deadwood. Name me one who has a semblance of integrity and vision for our university and I’ll buy you a UOMATTERS mug. Time to take back our university one administrator at a time.
