Go ahead, post a snarky comment about this guy. I dare you.
Trying to find some Snark that fits the spirit of UO Matters:
When the verdict was called for, the Jury declined,
As the word was so puzzling to spell;
But they ventured to hope that the Snark wouldn’t mind
Undertaking that duty as well.
So the Snark found the verdict, although, as it owned,
It was spent with the toils of the day:
When it said the word “GUILTY!” the Jury all groaned,
And some of them fainted away.
Or perhaps this (I’m no Banker, but some people might see familiar friends in this passage):
And the Banker, inspired with a courage so new
It was matter for general remark,
Rushed madly ahead and was lost to their view
In his zeal to discover the Snark
But while he was seeking with thimbles and care,
A Bandersnatch swiftly drew nigh
And grabbed at the Banker, who shrieked in despair,
For he knew it was useless to fly.
Nope. I’ve got nothing. Lots of good screen names up for grabs in there, though. Here’s hoping for the best with our new president. Let’s make it work.
Sure, it’s OK to walk or car-pool, but what about valet bike parking? I’m supposed to lock my fixie to a street sign? Is Schill just ignorant of Eugene’s hallowed traditions, or is he some sort of climate change denier? It reminds me of that time they kicked me out of the Vatican for wearing bike shorts. Who does he think he is, the Pope? I can’t believe UO Matters fell for this guy so quick. And I don’t see any mention of scotch in the invitation either. I bet he’s saving that for the after party with his insiders on the Senate Exec committee. Where did Lillis and Ballmer find this guy anyway?
Sorry, this is the best I’ve got.
It isn’t Nassau Inn, but what the heck, it’s free beer.
More like Tiger Inn…
Please give him my best. I would have been there with bells on, since I was elected to the UO Senate a few months ago. But I got a better job at a better department at a better school and didn’t receive a counter-offer from UO.
Maybe Schill should have a conversation with Interim Dean of CAS Andrew Marcus, Associate Dean of Humanities Karen Ford, and Department Head of Philosophy Bonnie Mann about all that. I’m sure everything was above board and in the best interest of research and teaching at UO.
As Groucho Marx was wont to say, goodbye forever.
