8/9/2011: Around the time Randy Geller was appointed UO General Counsel, longtime GC executive assistant Brian Whalen left to work in the president’s office. He was replaced by Deb Donning, who was given the new title of “Chief of Staff” to the General Counsel. Now it seems like she’s also had enough:
Deb Donning, currently serving as Chief of Staff in the UO
General Counsel’s Office, has both the background and institutional
knowledge to meet both needs. She will be reassigned from her current
position in the General Counsel’s Office to the position of Assistant
Risk Manager effective August 22, 2011.
Meanwhile Geller still can’t find anyone willing to sign on as his Associate GC. This search has been open since I can’t remember when. Still no takers, and you know they are offering plenty of money.
This is really going to get interesting next summer, when ultimate responsibility for UO legal matters will shift from the Oregon DOJ to OUS, and then probably to UO. Time to bite the bullet and offer Melinda Grier her job back? Or should we just shoot ourselves, and hire the Harrang, Long, Gary and Rudnick firm?
Grier’s husband (Jerry Lidz) is back from a temporary state job, doing contract work for the City of Eugene.
