I wasn’t aware you were an epidemiologist, Bernie!

Not an epidemiologist but I can read what they say. I also can count and understand numbers. I know that ordinary flu is killing vastly more people, very likely even in China. Certainly in Oregon.
Also, very few of the people fanning the hysteria are medical or biological experts of any kind.
I will continue to wash my hands, try to go outside and keep my immune system pumped, and go about my business.
Hope you do too.

Ordinary flu doesn’t overwhelm health care systems like COVID-19. For example, Italy has had to find 20,000 health care workers in a matter of days to deal with the real need. I doubt that Eugene hospitals have the capacity to deal with a mild or severe outbreak.

Ordinary flu doesn’t cause doctors to not even assess elderly patients or only offer oxygen when intubation is needed due to the saturation of care facilities, like is going on in Italy.
Let’s hope they don’t succumb to the hysteria.
How many people in Oregon have died of flu during winter term? Must be dozens, even hundreds.

Are these health professionals “fanning the hysteria”? https://www.medpagetoday.com/infectiousdisease/covid19/85324 and https://nypost.com/2020/03/10/johns-hopkins-doctor-warns-coronavirus-could-happen-here-like-wuhan/
Looks like UO getting ready for at least partial shutdown. Anybody know what osu is up to?
