Questions to Schill at today’s Senate meeting:
1) How many students, faculty and staff have tested positively for coronavirus?
2) What is being done to isolate and treat students on campus who have COVID19-like symptoms?
3) Are you going to honestly answer these questions?
These are really dumb questions, especially #3. Questions for JH Skeptic: 1] how many students are on campus? 2] what part of UO’s Health Center policies do you disagree with? https://health.uoregon.edu/covid19
Lane County, by the way, is at 32 cases, 1 death. What is your guess for your Q#1?
You can’t test positive if you can’t test!
I heard there’s about 300 students in the dorms right now. The IMT team on campus has a plan for isolating and treating students and in my opinion it’s solid. I want to know if the BioEngineering program was approved. That sounds awesome.
Approved! Along with the other 2 motions as well.
Off topic – but so far, enrollment numbers look pretty strong, less than 1% drop out rate – numbers come straight from the registrars mouth, but I realize it is still a bit early but I doubt the loss of spring
time tuition revenue will be any larger than 5% – others posted here of a much more catastrophic outcome – that was always unlikely, where are these students going to go in the short term,
in the long term if we have proven to suck at this new interface we may lose students.
I know I suck, but I am not at all representative of faculty, most of which likely care about the teaching enterprise.
It looks like we might even have a little increase in carrying load. From a VP newsletter, “Spring 2020 average carrying load is 14.26 compared to 14.14 Spring 2019” based on data from Monday (4/6). But who knows how many students are dropping courses this week.
Unrelated, does anyone know more about the cost for delaying the trials? Does that mean they can end the extended construction hours now?
They fired one of the subcontractors for raising safety concerns relating to the virus. IMO, hosting an event like that should not be treated as income that can be counted on, it should be like gravy on turkey, or frosting on a cake.
