For himself not the faculty, of course.
Given Scholz’s intransigence in negotiating with the faculty union – the only movement from his Spring proposal of 3% merit pools for 3 years has been to convert the first year to 3% ATB – it’s worth taking a look at the contract he negotiated with the Trustees for himself.
No merit raise worries for him. He gets annual 3% ATB raises, topped off by $100K bonuses every third year. And those bonuses aren’t conditional on any performance targets, they’re guaranteed payments for not quitting or getting fired.
On top of this he negotiated $150K in extra retirement money every year, not to mention the house and golf club memberships. This from the guy who thinks faculty benefits are too expensive?
Really tempted to respond to Chris Meade’s latest propaganda ridden email with this. Scholz better get his 100k bonus but god forbid NTTF get an extra 300$ a month for groceries
“UO financial resources are finite and must support our entire teaching and research mission.”

Here’s some free advice for Lieutenant Scholz, taken from the instructions the USMC gives officers on how to be an effective leader:
Put your Marines’ welfare before your own, correct grievances and remove
discontent.
Share danger and hardship with your Marines to demonstrate your willingness to
assume your share of the difficulties.
Once you make a decision and discover it is the wrong one, don’t hesitate to revise
your decision.
Seek out challenging tasks for your unit, but be sure that your unit is prepared for and
has the ability to successfully complete the mission.
Talk at a level that your Marines are sure to understand, but not at a level so low that
would insult their intelligence.
