Do I have to pay to read those articles?
I can wait until tomorrow to read about EOU-SOU-OIT when the “free” paper arrives (and good on them for standing up), but I”m most curious about vampiric court evidence. :)
The photo’s great, I’d post it but this is a family friendly blog. Buy a subscription, or else all the RG reporters will get laid off and end up working as UO strategic communicators!
Ha!
“… or else all the RG reporters will get laid off and end up working as UO strategic communicators!” Double HA!
“family friendly blog”? seriously? what kind of family were you raised in , UOM?
Given the timing, this amounts to nothing more than extortion. They want a bigger chunk of support from the state and UO and PSU have to give up more of what little they get to obtain independence. Seroiusly these schools are strapped for cash and they think they can afford a board at a cost of $1,000,000 a year?
Of course they want more support. EVERYONE wants more support … ask your nearest student. You sound kin to Bernie.
Sunday anonymous is right, everyone wants more. Despite RL’s many strengths, he never saw the obvious, that the regionals would have to be ‘bought in’ or ‘bought off’, if you prefer. UO and PSU could have tried to offer them $1m or so apiece, which we ended up giving to them through OUS redistribution anyway. We could also propose to continue some centralized accounting control functions. there are some advantages even for UO PSU and OSU. Gottfredson obviously asn’t figured this out either. Ed Ray seems to understand the basic financial and political calculus much better than UO or PSU leaders. Frankly even Pernsteiner might have all along.
Please point to the audited financials or even budget line item where this redistribution happens?

UO gets the same funding per in state and graduate student as every other school. We have just decided that teaching californians and asians is more profitable.
The UO and PSU benefit from that same shared services model, if that is what you mean, but we have been doubling and tripling admin and cops to go private. There are probably more services that could be pooled as well for greater savings but we are going in the other direction. We could have one Banner, one Blackboard, one payroll, one finance none of these have a thing to do with academics or the quality of education, except when someone is misappropriating students dollars for their own gain.
to penultimate anonymous accountant? thx for the impenetrable chart of ‘auditable’ accounts, but here is a simple table from an OUS site for non accountants: http://www.ous.edu/sites/default/files/state_board/meeting/dockets/ddoc130524-Fiscal_Conditions_for_Tuition-setting.pdf
1)Note that funding per resident FTE is NOT the same for every institution.
2) UO funding per resident FTE declined by 5-6% more than the system average–at roughly $60m in the pre cuts level of state support, that is, you guessed it, about 3-4m dollars in cuts relative to the ptoportionate system average.
3)your implication that Oregon residents are displaced at the UO by admissions of nonresidents from anywhere is not consistent with the data, at least not yet.
to immediately previous anonymous I don’t see where we disagree.
