Eugene teachers to get 7.75% raises per year plus more benefits

And unlike the UO faculty will have to do, they didn’t even strike. From the RG. Note that these 5% COLA raises are on top of the regular step increases teachers get, which if I understand correctly average 2.75% per year, plus other raises for getting a Masters degree, etc. These come on top of even larger increases in the previous contract.

“Although nothing is set in stone until EEA members vote to ratify, then approved by a 4J school board vote, the advances agreed upon are significant such as:

    • A cost of living salary increase of 5% each year in 2024-25, 2025-26 and 2026-27. Members will be receiving retroactive pay up to July 2024.
    • An additional 8% pay differential for school nurses in the hopes of attracting and retaining school nurses.
    • Increased health insurance coverage to $1,367 per month in 2024–25, $1,413 per month in 2025–26 and $1,478 per month in 2026–27.
    • Increasing guaranteed planning time per week from 320 minutes to 420 minutes at all grade levels.
    • Additional compensation for licensed staff who fill in for vacant positions, such as school nurses, special education teachers and more.
    • Extends the work year for school counselors and librarians to support their additional duties.
    • Bilingual educators may earn up to an additional 6% extra pay for supporting non-English speaking students and families.”
