Uh, maybe s/he didn’t get the message from AD Rob Mullens on how now was the time to help out our students with some money for academic scholarships? Or maybe there was no such message. Channel 12 news:

Poor timing, but this has been planned for over a year.

So it’s way past time to tax athletics.

I would love to see a comparison of revenue and attendance for baseball and softball.

How about a comparison of the marketing budget for men’s and women’s athletics.

All kidding aside, I would love to see that comparison too…

Great upgrade. Their money. They can do what they want with it. Going to be an excellent addition to the game experiance.

As a taxpayer, I question if we should be giving tax exemption to charitable giving that results in cushy seats for softball fans. Tax exemption is saying, “We trust that that money will be used for a greater good than how the state would use those tax dollars”. So yes, their money, and that is how the system works… but if the system is abused then changes will need to be made.

That aside, I’m excited that the softball team is doing so well.

That aside, I wonder why a highly successful softball coach makes $237,000 and a good baseball coach is making more than twice that? Both teams barely make any revenue, barely have any impact on bringing in students… are women’s coaches just paid much less because they coach women? I think both salaries are high considering the small potatoes nature of the programs, but it is funny this discrepancy exists.

Don’t worry. The inequities between Horton’s salary and White’s should be resolved…soon.
