Geller to contract out UO legal work

9/5/2011: Seems like a good idea. Maybe Melinda Grier and Dave Frohnmayer will team up to bid for the contract:

Bidding closes Friday. Currently the DOJ handles litigation, but SB 242 will devolve that to OUS and the universities.

There are actually some reasonable people at the DOJ who represent the interests of the State, not the University. So, if the UO contracts out legals services, they don’t have to worry about that conflict of interest and the providers of legal services will only be beholden to the UO and their interests.
