“Enough of that depression shit”, right? ;-) I just learned an important lesson: If this is a place that will teach perspective, then my perspective is that I don’t need to self-sacrifice my hard earned $$ to support the local football team any longer. They have everything (material) a student can dream of. Why should we even bother at the ticket booth? Instead, I will add the ticket fees I save to MY children’s college fund; the extra savings might pay for a nice practical desk, or a laptop or – (… oh my GAWD!! HERESY!!!) – BOOKS they will need for their studies…
This video is not an insult to many fine people in the athletics department any more than this building is an insult to many fine students who are barely scraping by as a result of ever-increasing tuition that subsidizes the unnecessary luxury in this edifice.

Why should we bother at the ticket booth? One reason that you might have missed is to actually attend the game. If you look at it from that perspective, having nice facilities is actually a good thing!

One important lesson you apparently didn’t learn was that this is not an official UO video, that the “Enough of that depression shit” did NOT come from the University.

@ Anon 1: As a spectator I have no access to these “nice facilities” (understatement of the year) – or do I? We are still speaking of the Quack shack not the stadium, right? Last I heard – this building is off limits to the general public. Unfortunately – I am more into soccer, so attending the games was really just, well, … it was OK I guess? Nothing I’m gonna miss all that much.
@ Anon 2: Huh? You missed the point, obviously it is NOT a UO piece (hard to miss the sarcasm throughout it, wouldn’t you say?). However, by accepting this extravaganza it is – AS IF ‘part’ of the UO said “Enough of etc….”. That ‘part’ would be the AD and some admins (but certainly not the UO as a whole). So – I guess – thanks nevertheless. You underscored my point (and that of the video) how the outside world might perceive us…. some of us (at the UO) must have lost their perspective about teaching perspective.
