    As an aside, an interesting article in the Chronicle today, looking at the connection of national money in what are essentially local races: Spots in student government.

    There are potential off-campus perks to stacking student government with conservatives. In state capitals and in Congress, the support or opposition of student leaders can help determine the fate of education legislation. If student-body presidents rally behind a proposed law, that boosts its credibility.

    I’m not suggesting that outside money is involved in any Oregon campuses to swing student government – on either side. But it’s an interesting article and worth pondering…

        If my political leanings were determined solely by reactions to outside funding for student activist groups, then we’d all be leaning conservative just the facts.
