via the Oregonian:
The Chronicle of Higher Education has named 103 public and private colleges as “2012 Great Colleges to Work For,” but no Oregon colleges made the cut. The weekly newspaper based its rankings on a survey of 47,000 college and university employees. They cited communication, respect and good compensation among the factors that make their institutions great places to work. 8/8/2012.
Now, there’s a proud legacy for the Moseley/Frohnmayer gang.
Name me any OUS institution in Oregon that had all three of those things….
That is what’s really sad. Oregon is the only one that could have had a chance but blew it

Interesting list – I sorted it by 4 year colleges with 10,000 or more since that is more relevant to the UO. I note the UW is not on this list. There are 30 Universities on this list. The dog has large familiarity with the following of those 30:
Duke University: Yes, one of the most excellent all around Universities in the country – way too bad that NC sucks hard during the summer.
George Mason University: This is a surprisingly good University with unusually high morale among the IT staff (who do like dogs …)
University of Delaware: Nice place, should be one of the official UO comparators.
Univ. of Michigan – WTF? How can it be on this list?
Western Washington University – A real gem. They too suffer from low compensation but people are happy there. Nice campus, nice location, students are motivated – no scalability issues – that campus has been managed well.
The administration and staff at University of Michigan is actually outstanding. They treat the faculty and staff with respect and engage them in decision making making. I am now at UM and have been at UC Berkeley, UCLA, UW, U Central Florida, UCSD, and U of Miami. UM beats them all in shared governance, respect, salary, benefits, and collegiality.

Glad to hear that things have improved in Ann Arbor
