President confers with faculty on spending priorities

Of course I’m not talking about UO. This is President Wim Weiwel at PSU. Oregonian story here. Link to their pretty transparent finance and administration page, here. Compare it with UO’s VPFA’s pretty but uninformative website, here. 4/8/2012.
Actually, I find the UO website more useful, despite its deficiencies.

Brave faculty member comes forward to challenge university administration on financial stewardship and transparency. President responds with PR-vetted platitudes. And UO Matters sides with… the president (!).
For example… Schuberth: “Why have the number of administrators, as well as their salaries, increased at a much greater rate than full-time faculty?” Wiewel: “Although perhaps nobody likes to hire lawyers and accountants and such, they are essential to keep a complex organization running.”
Schuberth: “Why do we continue to fund sports when the programs lose more than $1 million a year?” Wiewel: “”
What happened to you, UO Matters? You used to be cool.
