On a more serious note, these unfortunate real life events now give Schill+ a real public opportunity for demonstrating that shared sacrifices mean exactly that; shared equally by everyone If we really curtailed, athletic expenditures in a uniform and accountable way, for me, that would restore a modicum amount of faith that the University is here to educate students more than being here as a forum to make athletic donors happy with our facilities and team performances …
I’m not an economist, but is there a graph somewhere that shows the point at which it makes sense to employ an assistant football coach whose salary is higher than the university president’s salary? Does the curve change at all when you add data about the hundreds of people living on the streets in Eugene? We are due for a reckoning.
