I went to a couple of the finalist interviews and looked through the resumes. I thought Ms Resnick was the best candidate, and I think this hire is good news for UO:

Sent on behalf of Jamie Moffitt:

I am very pleased to announce that Nancy Resnick has accepted my offer to serve as our Chief Human Resources Officer. We anticipate Nancy will begin her new position on March 30, 2015, pending review and approval of all necessary paperwork and appropriate background checks.

Nancy currently serves as Associate Director of Human Resources at Humboldt State University, which she joined in 2008. Prior to that, Nancy spent more than 20 years in employment law in various positions, including with private law firms, trade associations, and the Office of the Solicitor in the San Francisco office of the U.S. Department of Labor. She has extensive experience in labor and employment issues, and a deep understanding of managing organizational change. Nancy graduated magna cum laude from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a degree in history, and obtained her J.D. from the Hastings College of Law.

I would like to thank all those who participated in this important recruitment process. The broad participation in campus interviews and the thoughtful input I received were both extremely helpful.

I am excited to have Nancy join our team. I am confident she will help solidify the changes currently underway in Human Resources, and lead the department to further embrace the rapidly evolving needs of our university. Please join me in welcoming Nancy to campus.

Jamie Moffitt
Vice President for Finance and Administration and CFO

yes she is good and hopefully can bring a reign of common sense to our HR operations.

Unless she is willing to clean house and jettison the dead weight it will be business as usual. The level of cronyism in the administration and with the upper level OA’s should scare most people off….unless, perhaps the golden parachute is presented up front……..

HR doesn’t have the authority to fire anyone, except for maybe classified employees and OAs working in HR. Get real, at best they provide advice to the people in power who make decisions about who stays and goes. Even more real, they just do what they’re told and take care of the paperwork. Hopefully with this new CHRO people will listen to her a little harder, but any actual authority is illusory.
