Will any charities take the bonus money Mullens and Altman earned from playing two alleged rapists in the NCAA tournament?

It seems unlikely. BBall owner and noted racist Donald Sterling can’t give it away:

So, would any local charity accept the $95K in bonus money Rob Mullens and Dana Altman earned from playing two alleged Duck gang rapists in the NCAA tournament? I doubt it – particularly since the Duck athletic Department employees were such skinflints in the recent Oregon Charitable Fund Drive. I’m no expert on motives for charitable giving, but I’m thinking their best option is to give it back to UO. Or better, burn it publicly in the middle of Matt Court, right before our new interim president’s commencement speech.

Thanks to a commenter for raising the donations possibility though. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s part of UO’s damage control planning. But at this point, research suggests they’d have to give away all their salary, above the $2500 NCAA cost of attendance money their players will get next year. Plus their Nike shirts and shoes.

Can I ask you a question, Bill? How is this post necessary or productive? It honestly just seems like you are getting far too much enjoyment out of this whole thing. Please remember a that this all came about from a serious and terrible event.

Self-promoting? Just 3 hours ago Sam was begging me to post his op-ed about the alleged rape:

If interested, I have a piece in the RG today. Some folks get shut out of the website due to not registering and looking at too many articles. Here is the word version if you are interested in posting the link and also text :

Go to your corners, boys. Enough sniping. I’d rather see more outraged people speaking out than less.

Gee whiz if EPD UO ASUO or NIKE wanted less rape on or around campus wouldn’t the first step be to dry out by eliminating the Autzen open container exemption “drinking district” that opens the floodgates of booze and legalizes all day binge drinking all over for all the UO ESPN GameDay RapeDay activities ?
