Things our administration has money for: Sports Products and Cops

2/24/2015: Coltrane tops off the bloated UOPD budget – up $1M in a few years – with a new Assistant Chief to help out UOPD Chief Carolyn McDermed. She gets $139K a year – same as the chief of Eugene’s far larger EPD. The Chief of the Oregon State Police gets $149K. Job ad here, more bloat below.

12/1/2014: From Gottfredson’s “Strategic Initiatives” project last summer. These are two of the projects that were approved, the funds are mostly out of student tuition money and CAS cutbacks. More than $1M. No sign that Coltrane has revisited these priorities:

    This is bloody ridiculous.

Their paying an assistant admin more than state level positions at a higher rank? And more than average full professors?

    Get your priorities straight!!!

Exactly. This is outrageous. Is the administration seriously claiming that it can’t hire an assistant campus police chief for less than $139k? Is there such a shortage of police out there? Or do the laws of supply and demand not apply here?

“homegrown, alpha cluster of companies” Alpha cluster-fuck. I hope there is a major boycott- due to the counter lawsuit of the rape survivor. As in we’re not buying your Duck shit (merchandise) unless or until the lawsuit is withdrawn. They SAY their “utmost concern is for student safety”, but anyone paying attention knows the utmost concern is revenue. Shut it down.

I thought changing security to police was going to save a bunch of money. At least that was the lie the idea was sold on. Wasn’t it supposed to save like $10,000.00 or something per year? I wonder how much it was to contract out to the city police? An egregious waste of money.
