Scott Jaschik in InsideHigherEd:
The median base salary for senior leaders at colleges and universities has gone up 2.4 percent in 2014-15, the same as the year before. [2.5% for public universities.]
At UO we don’t yet have full data for this year, but top Johnson Hall salaries increased by 7.3% last year. More data here.
Too bad the school doesn’t have a leader like this http://thinkprogress.org/economy/2014/08/05/3467601/university-president-minimum-wage-workers/
Wow, very impressive, thanks for posting this. Naysayers might argue that each of the min-wagers he cut his own salary for got less than $4000 each out of his generosity, but at that income level four grand makes a huge difference. Note also that KSU is a small HBCU and Burse is an interim president.
Look, UO has to have more executive admins and pay them top dollar due to the complexities and stress of administering a school with a top ranked football team, the numerous criminal charges, social infractions, etc over in Athletics that our admins have to handle, keeping the Athletic donors happy, keeping a tight leash on whining faculty, etc. This is obviously very stressful on our admins and thus they deserve the over the top pay they get, the golden parachutes when they get booted, etc. And we certainly don’t want other schools poaching our admins to help build up their athletic programs…
