UO M stats

Last updated on 05/16/2014

Recent UO M daily page-views peaked with Rob Illig (Law) and his “I’m worth $1 Million so tough luck, law students” emails. That was driven by the links to UO M from posts on the ABA website, Gawker, etc. For the latest Duck athletics scandal, page-views come mostly from Twitter and Google searches, and seem to have more persistence:

The caveat is that an increasing number of readers use services that block the statcounter javascript from logging your activity. Everyone should use one of these, and buy a VPN too. I use Ghostery (free) and PrivateInternetAccess (cheap). Although, you may decide you don’t like either of these.

The type of VPN that you incorporate into your system will ultimately depend on what you want to use it for. If you want it to enhance your security, then any VPN should do the trick. However, if you want it to give you access to blocked websites, like Pornhub, then you may need to look a bit deeper. Either that or learning how to unblock pornhub with a VPN may also be a worthy read if this is the website that you want access too. When it comes to technology and systems like this though, the research that you conduct has never been more important, especially if you want to protect your privacy too.

One of my friends always uses a VPN called Torguard, however, he mainly uses it for torrenting. He thinks it works better than these other two networks, although I prefer Ghostery. VPNs can differ from country to country too, for instance, if you were to look at your choices for some of the best vpn Canada has, compared to some of the best VPN’s for China, the technology and the web routing will differ massively – so one may work better for you than another depending on where you actually live. To try and find the best one for you, you could look at different Torguard reviews, as well as reviews of other VPNs. Checking reviews can be a good idea to ensure they are reliable and safe for you to use.

I prefer not to hide where I visit, if I work for the kind of people who will fire me for reading and discussing criticism I’d like to be fired so I can move somewhere better.

You realize that it is undesirable for people to be tracked so you tell them how to block it. But you have software that allows you to track people and you boast about your tracking. So you boast about causing damages to people. I understand why you do it in the first place – your selfish desire to snoop is greater than your altruistic desire not to harm people. But I have to admit, I don’t understand why you would publicly boast about engaging in a behavior that you yourself admit is harmful to people.

I want to know what people are reading so I don’t post things that they aren’t interested in. Readers also want to know how many others are reading. Most blogs do this. I posted the ghostery information because many readers use it to keep their information off the logs, for many legitimate reasons, and I wanted everyone to know how to do that.
