Trustees to zoom in for June 4, 9AM meeting on Student Conduct, Romania, Schill review,

Last updated on 06/07/2020

Live! I’ll try and add some commentary below, but it’s pretty depressing realizing these are the people who actually control our university, and I’m not sure I’ve got the stomach to watch it all.

Befuddled chairman of the board Chuck Lillis needs a little help with the tubes:

As usual Board Secretary Angela Wilhelms has buried the agenda in a giant PDF deep within the trustees website. Call me slow, but I’m beginning to suspect this may be intentional. Here’s my customary user friendly version. 184 pages of meeting materials here.

Thursday, June 4, 2020, at 9:00 a.m.:

Due to current orders regarding campus operations and social distancing, the meeting will be held via video conference with a telephone conference option available for members of the media and the public.

Subjects of the meeting will include institutional planning and response related to COVID-19, demographics and higher education, revisions to the student conduct code, FY21 expenditure authorizations, a bioengineering graduate degree, recognition of a long-serving employee, a lease of the Romania property, and a report on the institution’s research activities.

Appreciate the live-blogging. Sounds like you missed Jamie’s remarks about the $16 million in CARES Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds. It was her last slide. She talked about how many students have applied for emergency grants and how much has been allocated so far of the $8 million required for distribution to students. She also said that the university is still waiting for federal guidance for the funds that can be used for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus.

I have a question to the UO Board of Trustees? Why does UO continue to broadcast UO Football Games on KUGN. I have noticed strident racist commentary from Ben Shapiro, Chris Plant and Mark Levin.

KUGN Radio 590 — The Voice of the Ducks. If you want to listen to Oregon Football, you subsidize racist radio!

Isn’t it incongruous that the Oregon Ducks Football Team is regularly associated with the bigotry coming out of Mark Levin, Ben Shapiro, Michael Savage, Laura Ingraham and Chris Plant. Hell, that’s almost a whole football team with there…with Rush Limbaugh as the quarterback.

The time is right to ask this question:

Michael Schill – Why are the black Oregon athletes (any athletes) being used to promote racism?
